7.

Trey and his mom stopped at a railroad crossing to let a train pass. As the train began to pass, Trey counted 66 cars in the first 1010 seconds. It took the train 22 minutes and 4545 seconds to clear the crossing at a constant speed. Which of the following was the most likely number of cars in the train?
 60 \ 60
 80 \ 80
 100 \ 100
 120 \ 120
 140 \ 140
Answer: C
Concepts:ratio and proportionestimation
Small hint:

Written solution:
Converting 22 minutes and 4545 seconds into seconds, we get 2⋅60+45=1652 \cdot 60 + 45 = 165 seconds. Since 66 cars passed in 1010 seconds, at the same rate the number of cars xx passing in 165165 seconds satisfies 610=x165.\dfrac{6}{10}=\dfrac{x}{165}.
Solving gives x=165⋅610=99.x=\dfrac{165\cdot6}{10}=99. The closest answer choice is 100100.
Thus, C is the correct answer.
