Welcome to the most efficient and enjoyable way to learn math this summer, from the comfort of your own home. Our curriculum takes students from Pre-Algebra all the way to middle and high school math competitions such as MATHCOUNTS, AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, and AIME.

We've invented a way to make education as engaging as Instagram Live and Twitch, while lifting students far beyond the regular curriculum.

About teaching style

Dates

Our new technology platform allows us to launch new class times based upon requests. If you cannot find a match below for your dates, times, and course levels, please just submit a new class time request and we will try to create one for you. Or, you can choose to take our self-paced versions of these courses, which contain all of Prof. Loh's teaching.

We also offer a standard set of dates and times below. Our summer program operates like a university. Mix and match 20-hour courses. We have 2 paces for Summer 2022.

  • Daily pace (recommended): 4 weeks, 5 weekdays per week. Homework over weekends.
    • Session 1: Tue Jun 14 to Mon Jul 11
    • Session 2: Tue Jul 12 to Mon Aug 8
  • Alternate pace: 8 weeks, 2–3 evenings per week. Homework before every 5th class.
    • Early July Start: Tue Jul 5 to Sun Aug 28
    • Mid July Start: Mon Jul 18 to Sun Sep 11. (These evening classes continue during the school year.)

For the most effective results, we recommend taking one or two daily pace courses for each of the 2 sessions. This allows a student to take a total of 2–4 courses during the summer. Our unique live video teaching style is so entertaining that students love our classes, and can take them for 1–2 hours every day. This immersion in a fun math environment, guided by brilliant near-peers, transforms attitudes.

Curriculum

Our curriculum and teaching style were custom-designed by Prof. Po-Shen Loh. Through live interactive video, students develop mathematical creativity by brainstorming their own ideas for solving unfamiliar problems. They then receive expert guidance to see how their ideas can become solutions. The topics systematically cover the concepts in middle school (MATHCOUNTS, AMC 8) and early high school (AMC 10, AMC 12, AIME) math competitions.

Importantly, although the courses will significantly boost performance on math competitions, the teaching environment and content welcomes, encourages, and inspires students who are uninterested in math competitions. Our live courses give all students a new view of how interesting math can be, in a non-competitive environment. Each course module contains 20+ hours of class meeting time.

Our live courses follow the same curriculum as our self-paced courses (which have been taken by thousands of students). The full syllabus for each course is listed on the page for the self-paced version for each course.

Module 0 (Introduction)

An efficient whirlwind tour through all areas of beyond-curricular math (aligned with MATHCOUNTS and AMC 8). Designed to inspire students to love challenging math.

Module 1 (Algebra Basics)

A deep dive into the algebraic concepts which can be understood with just a Pre-Algebra background (prerequisite knowledge: decimals, fractions, and percents). These concepts form the majority of the early problems on MATHCOUNTS and AMC 8.

Module 2 (Geometry)

Rapidly teaches geometrical concepts through custom-designed problems that are understandable to students who have not yet taken a proof-based high school geometry course. Covers geometry which appears in MATHCOUNTS, AMC 8, and AMC 10.

Module 3 (Combinatorics)

A systematic introduction to one of the most interesting math subjects which is not taught in the standard school curriculum, but which often appears in hard problems on math contests. Covers concepts in MATHCOUNTS, AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, and AIME.

Module 4 (Algebra)

Since algebraic problems appear twice as frequently as other subjects on MATHCOUNTS and AMC 8, this course makes a second pass at algebra, covering more advanced topics that Module 1 did not have time for.

Module 5 (Number Theory)

Our most challenging course. A systematic introduction to abstract concepts across number theory, illustrated through custom-designed problems that make difficult-to-grasp ideas concrete. Covers concepts in MATHCOUNTS, AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, and AIME.
